Tourism is an important sector that has an impact on the development of a country's economy. Tourism can lead to income creation and generate jobs. Ho Chi Minh City has welcomed more than 25 million domestic tourists and nearly 6.4 million international tourists in 2017. Among the international tourists, roughly 10% came from China according to the department’s statistics. The second biggest source of international tourists for Ho Chi Minh City is South Korea with roughly two million visitors last year. The Vietnamese city has also enjoyed healthy growth from other ‘traditional’ markets, including Russia, Taiwan, Japan and the U.S. Ho Chi Minh City now looks to increase international arrivals by 25% in 2018, according to the tourism department
